GM Launches New Digital Support Resource for Residents with Disabilities

Over 11 million people in the UK live with a disability. Disability most likely affects older adults over the state pension age. Older adults account for 45% of the disabled in the UK compared to 16% of working-age adults. Nearly 80% of older adults over 85 are disabled.

GMCA has launched a new resource to help disabled people in GM get online and access opportunities in the digital world. The resource was developed with input from partners and organisations of the GM Disabled People Panel. They advised that many disabled people are unaware of where to access digital support.

The resource is a guide that signposts people with disabilities and people supporting them to organisations that help to reduce the digital gap. The booklet brings together information on:

  • Assistive technology
  • Digital Skills and Skill Courses
  • Broadband and Mobile Connectivity
  • Advice about Staying Safe Online
