World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week 2025

World Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Week 2025 runs from November 18-24. Antibiotics fight bacteria but can’t stop viruses like colds or flu. At Rock Healthcare, we help patients use them wisely to keep them working.

What is Antibiotic Resistance?

Bacteria change to fight antibiotics, making infections harder to treat—like a superbug that ignores medicine. This happens when antibiotics are overused or not finished properly. Without action, simple illnesses could become dangerous again.

Why It Matters to You

In the UK, resistant infections cause over 2,300 deaths each year. Antibiotics don’t work on coughs, sore throats, or most ear infections. Proper use protects you, your family, and future treatments.

Simple Ways to Help

  • Wash hands often and cover coughs to stop germs spreading

  • Only take antibiotics prescribed for you—never share or save leftovers

  • Finish the full course as told, even if you feel better
